The war years!

In 1941 war officially came to the United States courtesy of six Japanese carriers early on December 7, 1941. They were hard, bloody years and the outcome in the early phases was very much in doubt. All Zanesville High alumni were affected by the conflict- some served on the home front, both women and men, and some went overseas, never to return. Some mementos are shown below from that time. A hardcover book with a blue cover and embossed gold title has been published by the Times Recorder and Zanesville Signal newspapers. It includes those from the area (Muskingum County) who served, and is on display at the county courthouse.
