Benefits of CIW Certification:
CIW is a Internet vendor-neutral or job-role curriculum and certification for the knowledge economy; designed to help career changers enter the IT industry and experienced and vendor-certified professionals build on existing IT skills. CIW certification validates competency in IT industry standards, concepts and best practices; and familiarity with leading hardware and software technology.

CIW computer industry supporters:
Intel, Novell, and iGeneration have all merged their Internet certification programs with CIW. CIW is accredited by Association of Internet Professionals (AIP) and endorsed the by International Webmasters Association (IWA).

CIW certification tracks:
The first step toward CIW certification is the CIW Foundations series. After successful completion of the Foundations exam, candidates are awarded a CIW Associate certification. After achieving CIW Associate status, candidates can choose from four Master CIW certification tracks. Candidates who pass the CIW Foundations can earn the CIW Professional designation upon passing any CIW job role series exam. CIW Professionals may earn Master CIW Administrator, Master CIW Designer, Master CIW Enterprise Developer, or Master CIW Web Site Manager designation after completing all the series in a track.

Master Designer track

CIW Associate Certification:
Covers basic knowledge of Internet technologies, hardware and software configuration, security, network infrastructure, and Web authoring using HTML.

Site Designer Series:
The CIW Site Designer designs, implements, and maintains hypertext-based publishing sites using authoring and scripting languages, content creation and management tools, and digital media tools. Software includes FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Flash and standard HTML hand coding. Scripting languages include JavaScript.

CIW E-Commerce Designer:
The E-Commerce designer focuses on standards, technologies and practices for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce models. Covers marketing, promotion, customer service, user interaction, purchasing methods, and secure transactions by using SSL and SET, payment gateways, security and encryption, and site performance, testing and evaluation.
